May 2022 We were simply in Nashville for ane nighttime while moving our son back home from college. My girl wanted to do something fun so we picked this fine art museum as nosotros oasis't visited it all the same. It merely had the one exhibit, but it was perfect to make full a couple of hours before dinner. Plus, nosotros loved the showroom (Alma West. Thomas)!! When we were leaving we asked one of the staff members virtually the architecture, and she took fourth dimension telling us the history of the building equally well. She was so friendly and a delight to talk to! We will definitely go back in the future. Parking for the museum is not gratuitous, but they do offer a voucher which reduced ours to $4 for ii.5 hours. David Due south Saint Louis, MO 316 contributions Mar 2022 We stumbled into a complimentary architectural tour of the building that houses the Frist Art Museum (FAM). The tour was great. The lady who did the tour was involved in the formation of the FAM which is a publicly supported museum. The FAM does not own there own collection which means every show is a special event. It is a bit costly to enter the galleries simply yous can encounter part of the building for free. The building is a former central post office and is itself a piece of work of art. Nosotros did not see the entire evidence just what we saw on the architectural tour was incredible. We have been to countless art museums and this one is very interesting. How you like it may be predicated on the show that they have installed at the time. No matter what, get encounter the building. Enjoy! Located in the Gulch, the Frist museum exhibits are rotated regularly to continue it vibrant. While nosotros visited there was an interesting exhibit of Cuban artists and interpretations of colour. They have a large interactive room for families and kids so not everything has to be hands off. 😀 The staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely cease in on your next visit to smashville! Nov 2021 • Couples Housed in the former mail office, this art deco dream is large and sophisticated plenty to occupy a few hours of your time, while modest enough it doesn't overwhelm you. The Frist has had a wide array of exhibits over the years to satiate different tastes. They've hosted Chihuly, they've highlighted blackness and chocolate-brown artists. We just saw a fantastic Art Deco exhibit this weekend. They often showcase local artists and have shows focused on local history or events. As I mentioned, the architecture of the edifice is gorgeous and photograph-worthy on its own. Cost is reasonable, at fifteen dollars for an adult ticket. Close to many restaurants. Oh, and they have their own parking lot! Two dollars per hour for museum patrons. Worthwhile part of your nashville itinerary. Paul Fifty Nashville, TN 48 contributions November 2021 The Frist is one of Nashville'south cracking treasures. It doesn't have a permanent collection for several reasons, so I'm not sure why people are writing that the "permanent drove" is small, or was closed, etc. The different exhibits make art accessible to many, which is keen for Nashville. I love visiting the Frist, and acquire something each time I go. Today, we went to see the Art Deco and Medieval Bologna exhibits. The pieces on display tell then many stories, and everyone will find something to which he or she tin chronicle. (These exhibits are open until Jan, when new ones will take their places.) Loved the building and the showroom, so fabled! Wonderful experience. Written 22 Oct 2021 This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor fellow member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. Aug 2021 Big grand beautiful building which really doesn't have enough art in it to match the size and grandeur. They had an interesting, 1900's Glasgow art school display with lots of pieces for that movement, then, that was it. Nosotros are done. No other fine art from whatsoever other time periods. Actually?
